Join us for an official Climate Week side event hosted by Consulate General of Finland in New York and Business Finland. Our program explores low carbon built environment through the lens of policy, technology, neuroscience, and investment.
The program also showcases cutting-edge solutions for decarbonizing buildings in both Finland and the United States. 🇫🇮🤝🇺🇸
In New York City, buildings account for approximately two-thirds of greenhouse gas emissions. America’s largest city is committed to transforming its existing skyline into high performance low carbon buildings. Finland is eager to support with its expertise in energy efficiency, low-carbon materials, and digital infrastructure for buildings.

• Opening remarks and introduction of Finnish organizations including Halton, Phononic, Vilpe, Oilon, Uponor, and iLOQ.
• Setting the scene by Kristen Edgreen Kaufman, Deputy Commissioner of Public Private Partnerships & Economic Development, NYC Mayor's Office for International Affairs.
• Presentation on the green building landscape in Finland by the City of Helsinki and Aalto University.
• Discussion on Climate Investing & The Green Transition led by Davida Heller, Head of Sustainability Strategy at Citi.
• Panel I: Clean Heating and Cooling in the US and Finland.
• Panel II: The Brain Economy and the Built Environment.
• Panel III: Digital Infrastructure in Buildings.
Panelists include representatives from NYSERDA, The Clean Fight, Urban Systems, Perkins & Will, HKS, Rice University and innovative Finnish companies.
• Closing remarks by Jarmo Sareva, Consul General, Ambassador, Consulate General of Finland in New York.
